RAYNET, the Radio
Amateur's Emergency Network, is a voluntary service provided by
licenced amateurs to the community..
Many CDARS members
are also RAYNET members, using their experience in amateur radio
to assist the user services with emergency communications.
Gwent RAYNET, our
local group, were the winners of this years RAYNET CUP. This was awarded in recognition of the
substantial work done by them in Tunnel communications, proving
through a series of User Service exercises, that the use of 23cm
works effectively in a number of Tunnels - thus gaining more
interaction, support and confidence of the User Services and in
doing so, significantly enhancing the image of RAYNET and
Amateur Radio as a whole......"
